WordPress Themes Show Notes
In today’s Google Hangout on air, WordPress Themes, we discussed the value and use of themes within WordPress. There was a lot of discussion about which themes or places to purchase are best. While Kyle recommended WooThemes, Brian had an argument for why he specifically disliked WooThemes and made several other recommendations. The topic of integrating functionality in themes over plugins also came up and got a little heated. I closed the topic with a quick tutorial of Headway Themes, which I’ll cover in more detail later in the week.
Brian recommended Elegant Themes for their beauty out of the box. He also discusses a way to find an HTML theme that you like and import it into a WordPress theme. Brian’s big recommendation though, was Shopp Plugin for integrating commerce into a website. He assures us it will work with every theme. Anyone care to test it out?
Kellen uses free WordPress themes from the repository and creates his own custom child themes to change whatever is needed. He also brings up a fantastic point about how some themes offer the user millions of options as more of a marketing strategy than actual value.
Kyle likes WooThemes because of their clean integration with WooCommerce, but other’s had concerns with that.
